Best app to turn a YouTube workout into a plan

Saving a YouTube video is not a program. You still pause, squint at the corner of the screen, and try to remember whether that was set two or set three. The job to be done is narrower: take a link and come back with exercise names, sets, and reps you can log.

What a useful import actually returns

A good result names the movements, the sets, and the reps, in the order the video used them. You should be able to delete a finisher, change a dumbbell press to a barbell press, and save the day as a program.

Videos that never say the exercise name, or that are mostly motivation, produce a worse draft. Strength and hypertrophy videos that call out sets and reps work better.

How TrackYourLift does it

Open the program builder, choose the AI assistant, and paste the YouTube URL. YouTube links and photos are sent to cloud AI. TrackYourLift does not run that model on your iPhone. You edit the draft before it becomes the program you train.

TrackYourLift is free to use, with an optional Pro upgrade. Pro is $1.99/month. Pro AI is $3.99/month and includes cloud AI program building. YouTube import uses AI credits: Pro includes a monthly allotment, and Pro AI does not meter those credits. Photo import is a Pro AI feature.

The longer walkthrough is on the YouTube feature page and in the import guide. This page is the buying question: if the reason you want an app is that video in your watch-later list, start there.

If the video is a bad source

Some coaches show the movement and never prescribe a load. In that case the import can name the exercises and you still have to pick sets and reps. That is a normal edit, not a failed import.

If you already have the workout on paper, the photo path is the closer tool. If you only have a list of machines in a hotel gym, photograph the equipment instead.

Does the AI watch the video on my phone?

No. The link is processed by cloud AI. Your phone sends the URL and receives a draft program.

Can I import a Short or a livestream?

Paste a normal YouTube URL. Short clips and vague montages are weaker sources because they often skip sets and reps.

Do I need Pro AI?

YouTube import uses AI credits. Pro includes a monthly allotment. Pro AI does not meter those credits. You can always build the program by hand on the free plan.
