Alternative
StrongLifts alternative
StrongLifts 5x5 is a program and an app that refuses to let you wander off that program. That focus is why it works for a lot of beginners. It is also why people eventually look for a log that can do the next program too.
Run the 5x5, keep the log
The 5x5 page on this site is the pattern: two alternating workouts, three days a week, add load when the sets are complete. You can build those days in TrackYourLift and schedule them.
When the linear gains stop, you should not have to abandon your history to change programs. Edit the days, switch to 5/3/1 or an upper/lower split, or import a new plan from a video.
What StrongLifts is better at
A single-purpose app can be clearer. If you want the app to refuse every exercise that is not in the 5x5, StrongLifts is doing that on purpose. TrackYourLift will let you add a curl. That freedom is only a benefit if you can ignore it for a few months.
Check the StrongLifts listing for its current price. It is not quoted here.
Is the 5x5 page the StrongLifts program verbatim?
It is the classic three-day 5x5 structure, not a claim that Mehdi's app and this template are the same product.
Can I log 5x5 on Apple Watch?
Yes, with the iPhone nearby. The watch records the set. The program lives on the phone.
