How to perform this exercise

  1. Sit in the universal press machine leg press station and adjust the seat so your knees are bent at approximately 90 degrees.
  2. Place your feet shoulder-width apart on the footplate, toes slightly turned out.
  3. Press the footplate away by extending your knees and hips, stopping just short of full lockout.
  4. Slowly lower the footplate back until your knees return to 90 degrees.
  5. Keep your lower back pressed against the pad throughout the movement.
  6. Perform 3-4 sets of 10-15 repetitions.
