How to perform this exercise

  1. Sit at the universal press machine chest press station and adjust the seat so the handles are at mid-chest height.
  2. Grip the handles with an overhand grip, palms facing down or forward.
  3. Plant your feet flat on the floor and press your back firmly against the pad.
  4. Press the handles straight forward until your arms are nearly fully extended, squeezing your chest at full extension.
  5. Slowly return the handles back to chest height, feeling a stretch in your pecs.
  6. Perform 3-4 sets of 10-15 repetitions with controlled movement.
