How to perform this exercise

  1. Sit in a leg press machine and place the ball of one foot on the lower edge of the platform.
  2. Extend your leg fully so the platform is pushed away from you.
  3. Lower your heel toward you by dorsiflexing the ankle for a full calf stretch.
  4. Press through the ball of your foot to push the platform away, plantar-flexing fully.
  5. Hold briefly at the top, squeezing the calf.
  6. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions then switch sides.
