How to perform this exercise

  1. Stand holding a dumbbell in one hand at your side, arm fully extended.
  2. Keep your posture upright, core engaged.
  3. Shrug the shoulder of the working arm straight up toward your ear as high as possible.
  4. Hold briefly at the top, squeezing the trap.
  5. Lower the shoulder back to the starting position.
  6. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions then switch sides.
