How to perform this exercise

  1. Sit at a lateral raise machine and adjust the seat height so your elbows align with the padded arm rests.
  2. Rest your upper arms against the pads with elbows bent at 90 degrees.
  3. Grip the handles or rest arms against pads.
  4. Push both arms upward and out to the sides until they reach shoulder height.
  5. Hold briefly at the top.
  6. Slowly lower back to the starting position.
  7. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
