How to perform this exercise

  1. Stand beside a cable machine with the pulley set to the lowest position.
  2. Hold an upright support with your near hand and lean away from the machine.
  3. Grip the cable handle with your far hand, arm hanging across your body.
  4. Raise your arm out to the side in a lateral arc until it reaches shoulder height.
  5. Hold briefly at the top.
  6. Slowly lower back to the starting position.
  7. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions then switch sides.
