How to perform this exercise
- Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, barbell on the floor or in a rack at mid-shin height.
- Hinge at the hips until your torso is roughly parallel to the floor, keeping your back flat and core tight.
- Grip the barbell with an overhand grip slightly wider than shoulder-width.
- Let the bar hang at arm's length, directly below your shoulders.
- Row the bar up toward your lower chest or upper abdomen by driving your elbows up and back.
- Squeeze your shoulder blades together at the top of the movement.
- Lower the bar back to the starting position in a controlled manner.
- Keep your torso angle consistent throughout — do not rock up and down with momentum.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
