How to perform this exercise

  1. Position yourself on a donkey calf raise machine, leaning forward with the pad across your lower back.
  2. Place the balls of your feet on the footplate with heels hanging off.
  3. Lower your heels as far as comfortable for a full calf stretch.
  4. Drive through the balls of your feet to raise your heels as high as possible.
  5. Hold briefly at the top, squeezing the calves.
  6. Lower back to the starting position.
  7. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
